The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter

The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, run entirely by Harvard students, is celebrating its 40th year this year. Under new Massachusetts rules, shelter guests are allowed to stay up to 6 months with the intended goal that they will be better prepared to transition into permanent housing under these timelines. This policy change is leading the Harvard Square shelter to institute physical renovations to address the new needs. We tour the facility as it undergoes its transformation.
