Boston and Innovation: The Innovation Trail
Boston has an important role in American history, but most people don’t associate the city with innovation. Professor Bob Krim joins unPlanned to correct that. He and Scott Kirsner have created an Innovation Trail, modeled on the city’s Freedom Trail, to tell the story that people need to know. The list spans four centuries, from medical innovations such as combatting smallpox in the 18th century and fighting Covid in the 21st to inventing the telephone in the 1870s and putting a man on the moon in 1969. The city and its surrounding region has been an integral part of all of these breakthroughs.
